Bookmarks was designed to be used as the homepage of all your browsers. It stores and manages sets of bookmarks that can be shared between users and grouped by function.
This is very similar to del.icio.us of course. It improves on del.icio.us through an extensible plugin system that allows, for example, access to search engines, dictionaries and shared notepads.
On an average day I used to use, including VMs, 3 different computers and 4-8 different browsers. I got fed up of organising my bookmarks in each of these environments. Bookmarks was my Web 2.0 solution.
Yep. It was my first full Web 2.0 app and I am fairly proud of it. It was written a long time ago in PHP 4, if I was writing it again now I would choose Python/jQuery - but that is never going to happen.
Bookmarks has, through its plugin system, the ability to tell you all about itself. Please go and visit the welcome pages.
Since writing Bookmarks I have changed jobs and now almost exclusively use Firefox. Firefox allows me to use Xmarks and Speed Dial which suits me much better. Bug fixes only from now on.
